The correspondence in this series principally concerns the judging of entrants to the 1962 Newdigate Prize, the Chancellor's English Essay Prize and the Sacred Prize Poem, duties which fell on Graves in his capacity as Professor of Poetry (1961-1966). The series also contains some administrative correspondence and a bundle of telegrams congratulating Graves on his election.
