Administrative / Biographical History

William Wright served in West Africa during the Second World War, and entered the colonial administration in Sierra Leone in 1949 as an Assistant District Commissioner. He became a District Commissioner in 1949 and an Administrative Officer in 1959. Between 1961 and 1964 he worked for Laycock Engineering in Sheffield as a Contracts Manager, before returning to the colonial service with postings to Aden and Botswana.
