Administrative / Biographical History
Cambridge University Association Football Club (CUAFC) was formed in the 1860s.A Cuppers competition was held for the first time during the 1882-1883 season, and a college league was established subsequently. The first official Varsity match took place in 1874. In 1885 the club bought a ground at Grange Road with the aid of the Rugby Club. The number of college teams in the league grew over time, and the competition came to include teams from outside the university.
