Schools projects

Scope and Content

Correspondence between Daphne and West Yorkshire CC and schools concerning the creation of electronic music studios in schools. Beginning with an invitation in 1965 from John Gavall, the Senior Music Advisor for West Riding of Yorkshire County Council to Daphne to visit them in order to advise on practical equipment for use in schools, the correspondence then details Daphne's supervision and provision of an electronic music studio and advice on composition and technology to Roy Cooper the Music Teacher at Adwick School in Doncaster. Papers include studio sketches for Adwick. In 1969 Roy Cooper moved on to Bingley College, Yorkshire where he set up another studio with Daphne's help and the original studio at Adwick was been moved to Edlington Comp. Paperwork also details the beginnings of ESSCONICS ltd, the trading company set up by Daphne to loan and hire music to schools and includes early resources for teaching composition in schools by Daphne. Finally one paper briefly outlines Daphne's plans for Oramics for Schools.
