Maurice Shock was Vice-Chancellor for the University of Leicester from 1977 to 1987, before becoming Rector at Lincoln College, Oxford until 1994. In his early career, he worked for the British Intelligence services.

He has a building for medical sciences at the University of Leicester named after him.
