Administrative / Biographical History

Lyn Huw David Evans was born June 1924 in Cardiff. He attended school in the area and by December 1941 was a student at Cardiff Technical College. During this time he was living with his parents Dewi and Gwen Evans at Syr David's Avenue and was a member of the Cardiff Home Guard. He was reported missing during the middle of December 1941 and his body was found a few days later not far from his home. The subsequent inquest in to his death recorded a verdict of suicide whilst the balance of his mind was disturbed. His name was subsequently mentioned at the inquest into the death of Cardiff City Police Constable Evan Thomas Davies who had been shot in an air-raid shelter on Whitchurch Road, Cardiff on 12 December a few days before Lyn Evans' suicide. A suicide note left by Mr Evans indicated he had not committed the murder.
