Maps

Scope and Content

The following collection includes maps, sections, tracings, plans, etc, that are too large to fit in the general series. It should be noted that many of the maps and sections relate directly to the projects listed above.

Arrangement

  • 1. London Water Supply Maps, including OS maps for New River Co, Croydon Water, etc.
  • 2. Kent, including map for Maidstone Nater, 1885 (see Series A); OS maps for Kent Coal (see Section B), etc.
  • 3. Continent (France and Belgium), inc. commercial and geological maps, probably used for Kent Coal exploration.
  • 4. Somerset, inc. fairly complete series of OS maps.
  • 5. Lancashire, inc. OS maps for Manchester Corporation v. New Moss Colliery (see Section C).
  • 6. Yorkshire, inc. OS maps for Derwent Valley Water Scheme.
  • 7. Miscellaneous, inc: Folder of Maps and Sections re Royal Coal Commission, 1871; geological map of India; map and section of Birtley, 1920; map of Snowden; cross sections from LMW Railway & Portland Cement Co, 1906; Alit Glas Canal sections.
