Scope and Content

Four volumes of notes, possibly by Edmund Butcher, on the doctrines of Christianity, compiled at the Academy, Daventry, Northamptonshire, in Jeremiah Rich's system of shorthand as improved by Philip Doddridge.

Edmund Butcher (1757-1822) was a unitarian minister. Details are given in the Dictionary of National Biography.

Acquisition Information

The volumes were given to the Library by Mansfield College, Oxford, in 1964.
