Folder containing letters written in Edinburgh, Manchester, London, the United States, Harrogate [Yorks] and Newcastle on Tyne [Northumb]; the correspondence includes anti-slavery material, especially the activities of George Thompson and Elizabeth Pease (later Nichol), the rift between the American Anti-Slavery Society (led by Garrison) and the American and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society (the `New Organisation', founded in 1839), the support of GT for the former and the British Anti-Slavery Society (based at 27 New Broad Street, London) for the latter, and GT's opinion of the law regarding women in England.
