Autograph manuscript in various colours of pencil and ink, with authorial revisions and [editorial?] corrections in red pencil. Contains draft of poem 'If I would stay what man call sane' (f.38v) and list of expenses for London and Burpham homes (f.42v). Undated.

Drawings in pencil, ink and crayon include:

  • f.40v: outline sketch of male figure with hands in pockets;
  • f.41v: line drawing from life of female figure;
  • f.44v: male figure on throne with chain round neck [Lord Sepulchrave?];
  • f.45v: head of boy apparently blowing through tube [study for The Glassblowers?];
  • f.46: dwarf male figure; sketches of female head [for painting?];
  • f.46v: rough sketch of figures bending;
  • f.47v: sketch of female figure with arm stretched;
  • f.49v: head of boy;
  • f.50v: male nude;
  • f.51v: female head [Maeve?];
  • f.52v: study of men in suits, standing;
  • f.53v: Maeve with cube floating in front of her cheek.
