PARTIES:

1. John Parker (as in 48D/48).

2. Henry Purdue of Oxford, Wine Merchant.

PROPERTY: (a) As in 48D/48 above.

(b) Public House at Marston called the White Hart, with malthouse and 2 small closes adjoining, and a garden bounded to the north and west by Back Lane.

(c) Piece of land in St. John's Road, St. Giles, Oxford, with 3 messuages erected on there (boundaries given).

(d) Copyhold Messuage in the manor of Headington, containing cottage, stable, yard and garden, adjoining the turnpike road.

CONSIDERATION: £1950.

The deed bears the following endorsement, dated 6 Dec 1850:

Conveyance in lieu of repayment of mortgage

PARTIES:

1. James Wells (as in 48D/47).

2. Emanuel Copper of Fredericks Terrace, Commercial Road, Peckham, Surrey, Gent.

3. James Foster Groom of Alchurch Lane, London.

4. John Parker, now of Headington Hill, near Oxford.

5. Henry Purdue (as above).

6. Abram Lindow Rawlinson of Chipping Norton, Gent.

PROPERTY: As above.

COMMENTS: 4 was declared a bankrupt in 1848, and 2 was appointed the creditors' assignee. 2 now agrees to sell the above property to 5, on condition that 5 abandons all claim to debts due to him as 4's mortgagee. 6 is to be 5's trustee.

It is not known when this property was bought by Halls Brewery, but the next deed to mention it, L1/26 above, includes it among Halls Brewery property, and is dated 1891.
