Scope and Content

Ignorance is Bliss was a BBC radio comedy quiz series, originally broadcast between 1941 and 1964. The programmed starred comedians Harold Berens, Gladys Hay and Michael Moore, alongside quiz chairman Stewart MacPherson. In each episode, the chairman asked various questions of the panel of comedians, who gave various amusing answers. The format was based on the American series It Pays to be Ignorant. Scripts were written by Ronnie Hanbury and George Wadmore.
