Variety Bandbox was a BBC radio variety series, originally broadcast between 1941 and 1951. The format of the show was similar to a stage Variety bill, featuring a mixture of comedians and musicians. Established comedians such as Max Wall made regular appearances on the programme. The show also helped launch the careers of performers including Tony Hancock, Frankie Howard, Peter Sellers, Miriam Karlin and Bill Kerr, as well as establishing the writing career of Eric Sykes.
