Scripts for Citizen James

Scope and Content

Citizen James was a BBC television comedy series which ran for three series between 1960 and 1962. The series starred Sid James, and Bill Kerr and was written by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, all of whom had previously worked on the comedy series Hancock's Half Hour. Indeed both James and Kerr played characters akin to their Hancock persona. Episodes usually revolved around James's schemes to make money. Liz Fraser also featured, as James's girlfriend. Later episodes were written by Sid Green and Dick Hills.

These scripts are all photocopies, and are taken from the first series (1960).

The scripts are arranged by series and then by episode number. This may be the order in which they were recorded or in accordance with the rehearsal schedule, rather than the order in which they were broadcast.
