Scope and Content

Calling All Forces was a BBC radio variety series, originally broadcast between 1950 and 1952. Its format was similar to a stage Variety bill, featuring a mixture of comedians and musicians. Tony Hancock and Charlie Chester appeared regularly, as did Terry Thomas, Ted Ray and Bob Monkhouse. Guests included Jimmy Edwards, Miriam Karlin and a young Peter Sellers,

Writers on the series included Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, as well as Charlie Chester.
