A transcript in Greek of the 'Testament of the Twelve Patriarchs' made by Margaret Dunlop Gibson for Robert Sinker from MS 547 in the Library of the Monastery of Saint Catharine, Mount Sinai. On the flyleaves at the back is a series of seven photographic facsimiles.

A collation in Greek of MS 411 (described, incorrectly, as MS 419 in the volume) in the Monastery of St John, Patmos, with the printed edition of the Testament of the twelve patriarchs, edited by Robert Sinker, 1869. On fo. 1: 'R. Sinker, Trinity Coll. Camb., March 10, 1876'. The versos are blank throughout.

A collation in Greek in the hand of Robert Sinker of Paris, Bibl. Nat. MS grec 938, with Sinker's printed edition of the Testament of the twelve patriarchs. On fo. 1: 'R. Sinker, Trinity Coll. Cambridge, Feb 23, 1887'. The versos are blank throughout.

MS.Add.5363: Testamentum XII Patriarcharum: Collation, 1876, 97 folios.

A collation in Greek by Ignazio Guidi of MS Vat.Gr.731, fos 97 et seq., in the Vatican Library, with Robert Sinker's printed edition of the Testament of the twelve patriarchs. The leaves on which the collation was made are bound up with a copy of the printed text (pp. 129-210). On a flyleaf at the beginning: 'R. Sinker, Trin. Coll. Ca., July 1876'.

Administrative / Biographical History

Robert Sinker (1838-1913), biblical scholar, was born in Liverpool on 17 July 1838. He attended the Liverpool Collegiate Institution, before entering Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1858 (B.A., 1862; M.A., 1865; B.D., 1880; D.D., 1890). He was ordained deacon in 1863, and priest in 1864. Sinker was curate of Coton, Cambridgeshire, 1863-1866, chaplain of Trinity College, 1865-1871, and librarian at Trinity, 1871-1907. He died on 5 March 1913.
