General Purposes Committee

Scope and Content

From The Story of ACPO by R B Johnson, (1992) Police Journal, 65(3) pp193-199 - The General Purposes Committee deals with issues which do not fall within the purview of the other principal committees. Its standing sub-committees consider a wide range of subjects such as race and community relations, emergency procedures, discipline and complaints and quality of service. The many working parties include teams examining police ethics, compulsory competitive tendering and relationships with the public.
