Leonard M. Heaney (b 1906), CMG (1959), was educated at Bristol Grammar Schooland at Oriel College, Oxford, undertaking military service, 1940-1945 (Major).He began work in the Colonial Service as cadet, Tanganyika, 1929, was madeassistant district officer, 1931, district officer, 1941, deputy provincialcommissioner, 1948, provincial commissioner, 1951 and senior, 1956. He retiredin 1958, was made temporary principal, Colonial Office, 1959 and continued inthe Civil Service to [c1964?].
