Mediaeval Manuscripts

Scope and Content

The Mediaeval Manuscripts number just nine but include Petrus Lombardus' Sententiæ from the Thirteenth Century; an illuminated Vitæ Sanctorum, or Saints lives; an early-fifteenth-century Sarum Missal decorated with penwork flourishing, and border ornaments; a fifteenth-century breviary (a service book containing hymns, offices and prayers sung by the Roman Catholic clergy at prescribed times) and a fifteenth-century horae, or book of hours, (popularly used in private devotions from the Thirteenth to the Sixteenth Century).
