Letter: John Dennett to Rev. James Williams

Scope and Content

LETTER: John Dennett, Bell and Crown Inn Holborne, London to Rev. James Williams, secretary to the Anglesey Institution for preserving Life from Shipwreck, Llanfairynghornwy Rectory, Isle of Anglesey. HE would greatly oblige him if he could give him an order for the amount of his account as he is temporarily short of funds. He hopes the Liberty has arrived safe and the rockets etc. Are satisfactory. Mr Grimes and Capt. Denham R.N. are trying to get the shipping interest to equip their c=vessels with his rockets. He refers to a rival, Mr. Carter the ordnance storekeeper at Hull. An order has been given for a comparation trial between the rockets of the two rivals and he feels that if he cannot reap the benefits of his work ruin will inevitably follow.
