MS.Add.7971/1: Drawings prepared for the periodical The lantern of the Cam, 1871-1873, 1 volume.

1. The original pen and wash drawing for the cover of the publication.

2. The first sketch and the finished work of the original pen drawing for the cartoon 'The man of letters' in volume 1.

3. The full-size sketch of the original pen drawing for the cartoon 'The Shah hoax' and the finished drawing of the sketch, renamed 'A medley, 1873'. There are also several preliminary sketches.

4. The original pen drawing for the cartoon 'An editor's reverie' in volume 3.

The precise identity of the artist is unknown: he may be William Beales Redfern (fl. 1840-1900), a member of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society.
