File containing tss. extracts of letters from Thomas Adkins to his parents over the period 1855-1879, photocopy of obituary of Thomas Adkins, Evesham and Four Shires Advertiser, 28/12/1912. Adkins went out to Hong Kong in 1855 as a student interpreter, and rose to the position of Acting Chinese Secretary at Newchwang in 1870. Correspondence describes local events and disturbances, descriptions of various consular buildings, and appointments in different consulates throughout Hong Kong and mainland China.
