Correspondence and papers relating to the reconstitution of the MMS in 1950, following the amalgamation with the Pathological Society of Manchester, the Manchester Surgical Society, the Manchester and District Society of Anaesthetists and the Manchester Odontological Society.
The papers include discussions and draft copies of the Society's new by-laws, including material relating to the by-laws of the Royal Society of Medicine. There are minutes and papers of the Amalgamation Committee, which oversaw the incorporation of the other societies and their reconstitution as special Sections of the MMS. There are two leaves apparently written by William Brockbank at a later date [1980s?] summarising the background to the amalgamation.
