Section of Paediatrics [Manchester Paediatric Club]

Scope and Content

The records comprise solely the minutes of meetings and the Section's Council.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Section of Paediatrics was inaugurated at a meeting on 9 July 1964. The Section was established to allow local paediatricians to benefit from talks and discussions in what was becoming an increasingly academic discipline. The initiative to create the Section came from the Manchester Paediatric Club (MPC), which had been established as a forum for paediatricians in 1948, and which had not joined the MMS in 1950. In 1992 the MPC amalgamated with the MMS, and the Sections of Paediatrics is now more commonly known as the Manchester Paediatric Club.
