Scope and Content

(King's Bench) Record of action moved by Certiorari from Sessions. Information in Crown Office has altered the charge from the inhabitants of Temple Newsam to those of Leeds and Whitkirk. Includes affidavit of Thomas Leigh, Town Clerk of Leeds, concerning perversion of Justice by Matthew Hall, attorney for the prosecution, in his management of the case at Assizes. Also includes notes and plans of Temple Lane. The cause was tried at York Assizes in 1683 and verdict given for the prosecution.
