Scope and Content

To Richard Barraclough of Halifax, mercer.

Consideration: £80 and in performance of covenants in an indenture of the 30th Aug. 1609

Parcels: a messuage houses buildings etc. in the several occupations of Richard Barraclough Cuthbart Hanson, Robert Heton, William Shepley, William Brigge and John Harrison and two closes of pasture adjoining in occupation of the said Richard Barraclough in Halifax, abutting on a lane leading from Halifax to the moor on the south, and on another lane leading to Sugden houses on the north:

a messuage divided into four, in occupation of John Bairestow, Thomas Campynett, Lawrence Asinall and Mathew Eglande in Halifax abutting on a lane leading from Halifax to Kinge Crosse on the south, a lane leading to the moor on the north, lands of Richard Lawe on the west;

2 other closes in Halifax abutting on a lane leading to Halifax moor on the south to Sugden houses on the north;

2 other closes on a lane leading from Halifax Green to Halifax moor on the south, lands of Nicholas Richardson and Robert Hardy on the north;

a parcel of land lately enclosed from the waste with a watercourse running through in the occupation of Richard Stanffeild in Halifax, on the highway leading from Halifax to Deane Clough head on the west, a way leading to Northbridge on the south and lands of Arthur Kent on the north;

a messuage called Harthorne with appurtenances in occupation of Jennett Wytton and Frauncis Skolefield, and a little piece of void ground called Bowrom;

2 closes called the fflatts (2 & 1/2 acres) in occupation of Jennett Wytton which lie on the south side of shops of Robert Bairstowe and lands of Edward Brodeley on the north.

all which premises were formerly held as copyhold lands of the manor of Halifax at an annual rental of 6s. 10d
