Administrative / Biographical History

Gordon C S Smith was born in 1965  and studied at University of Glasgow from 1983-1990  , graduating BSc in 1987 (First Class) and MBChB in 1990  . In 1990 he won the Mary Margaret Isabel Ure Prize in Community Medicine. Since graduating he has pursued both a clinical and academic career in obstetrics and gynaecology, working in Glasgow hospitals (Western Infirmary, The Queen Mother‰??s Hospital and Royal Maternity Hospital, Rottenrow) and publishing widely, continuing a career begun as an undergraduate. Gordon Smith won the Edith Walsh Award of the British Medical Association for cardiovascular and respiratory research in 1992  and graduated MD from Glasgow University in 1995  . Also in 1995, he became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. These papers were deposited in 1996 before Dr Smith took up a 3-year post as a Research Fellow in the College of Veterinary Medicine in Cornell University, New York, USA.
