Scope and Content

Bound volume of critical essays written by W.R. Sickert from 1908 to 1914 in typed manuscript form, some essays with corrections in pencil. The essays were originally published in The Art News, The New Age, Fortnightly Review and English Review.

Two essays are not from Sickert - 'Art. Mr Walter Sickert's Pictures at the Stafford Gallery ' by Roger Fry (pp1-4), printed from 'The Nation' July 8th 1911; and 'Twenty Years of British Art at Whitechapel' (pp96-98) taken from 'The Art News' of May 19th 1910 and thought to be written by S.F. Gove.
