Playspace was a study initiated by the Working Association of Mothers (WAM) and the Richmond branch of the Association for the Advancement of State Education (AASE)., to examine the planning of and creation of play facilities in the London Borough of Richmond. Although Richmond was seen as having considerable park space, there was little designed specifically for children. The research was conducted by Agnes Whitaker, MA, Martin Shearman, Dip Arch, Dip TP, Architect, RIBA and edited by Diana Priestley.

The report was reprinted in Jan 1973.
