This company came about as a result of  P R Buchanan' s attempts to sell the tea produced by the North and South Sylhet Tea Companies to the  United States. It was floated in  1898  and was part of the large investment which  Sir John Muir made in tea planting. The agents for this company were  Finlay Muir & Co,  Calcutta, which, by  1898 , were the  Calcutta branch of  James Finlay & Co, and no longer a partnership.
