The Committee was established in 1922 as a lobby for voluntary hospitals in Manchester. The Committee promoted cooperation between such hospitals in matter such as fund-raising, collective purchasing, and accounting systems. The Committee was formed as a response to the Voluntary Hospital Commission of the Ministry of Health. The Committee was dissolved in March 1940 and its work taken over by the Manchester Joint Hospitals Advisory Board.
