Handbooks issued by the Manchester Medical (and Panel) Committee. Three editions were published between 1931 and 1934, their increasing comprehensiveness possibly reflects increasing local authority provision and coordination in Manchester. The handbooks were practical guides for insurance practitioners, they give notes for practitioners on admission of patients to hospitals, information about out-patients' departments and venereal disease clinics, and a list of notifiable diseases. The second issue also has notes on the Dental Hospital, district nurses, ophthalmic treatment and a list of books and forms. The third issue also includes factory surgeons, the pathological service and supply of vaccines, child welfare and maternity centres, and registrars of births and deaths.
