Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Hugh Williams (fl. 1888-1907) of Llanrhyddlad, Angelsey, was a building contractor and joiner, undertaking numerous building jobs in the area. His firm later became H. & J. Williams, partners John Williams and William Williams. The company dealt in glass, oil, paint, lime, bricks, tiles, slates, cement and other decorating and building supplies and also made coffins. The firm's clients included the Diocese of Bangor, chapels, Valley Hotel and the Education and Smallholding departments of Anglesey County Council, School Boards and Anglesey Rustic Marble Co. They carried out building work in Rhydwen, Llanrhuddlad, Borthwen, Llanfechell, Llanfairynghornwy, Bodedern, Rhoscolyn, Four Milr Bridge, Valley, Llandrygarn, Caergeiliog, Bryngwran, Llanfaethlu, Trearddur Bay and Llanfigael.
