J.T. O'Farrell (1888-1971) joined the RCA in 1910. He was appointed as the Irish Secretary of the union in 1918, having been Secretary to the Irish Council, 1915-18. He helped found the Irish Labour Party and was a member of the Executive of the Irish Labour Party and the Irish TUC, 1918-30. O'Farrell was also a member of the Irish Senate, 1922-36 and 1948-50.
