Deeds of title of Swansea Corporation property. These documents, which formerly must have been in the possession of the Town Clerk, had been kept for many years in the Borough Estate Agents department prior to accession in December 1976. Although no prior list of the class exists, the documents had been enumerated and ordered on several occasions, the last and only known occasion being 11 April 1952. The class has been broken up at some time. The sub-numbers used in this list follow this numbering system. The deeds in this series were catalogued and described by W. C. Rogers in his Swansea and Glamorgan Calendar, edited by Bernard Morris and published by the West Glamorgan Archive Service 2005 (searchroom library, LOC/SWA 78)S/EA/1/hub

Volume containing plans of ten land-holdings on Townhill, Swansea, made after the enclosure. The plans are surveyed at a scale of 2 chains to an inch (1:1584) and each one shows a different land holding. There is a reference table to each, giving field names, acreages and occasionally land use. The tenements are as follows: Hill House; land leased to T. E. Thomas; Cockit [Cockett] Farm; land let to Thomas Grove and Mrs Perrott; Penygraig Farm; Mayhill; land near Cwmbwrla and Waunwen let to Paul Bevan esq.; Cae Delyn; land let to John Powell, the late David Michael and the Duke of Beaufort; and lands near Waunwen. No surveyors name is given. The plans are pasted into a leather-bound volume, with Corporation of Swansea embossed on the frontEA 4/1

Title deeds and leases relating mainly to properties at Brynmelyn and Greenhill, Swansea, 1630-1750. These deeds were found in two bundles, one containing deeds labelled A, E. K and L, and the other containing the rest. Both included notes by W. C. Rogers, former Estate Agent of Swansea made in 1942. He used them in his Swansea and Glamorgan Calendar (edited by Bernard Morris, and published by West Glamorgan Archive Service under the title Historic Swansea) where he refers to them as the Brynmelyn Deeds.S/EA/7/hub

Papers relating to the North Dock Abandonment Act 1928, 1913-1971. Swanseas North Dock was built in the 180s out of a bend in the River Tawe near to the town. The course of the river was straightened by the creation of the New Cut, and its former course turned into the North Dock, which was opened in 1852. By the 1920s, following the opening of larger docks to the east of the River Tawe, the North Dock was largely redundant and the Great Western Railway Company, its owners, proposed to close it. This resulted in the passage of the Great Western Railway (North Dock Abandonment) Act, 1928. The dock closed to shipping in 1930 and the upper part was filled in, leaving the North Dock Basin open until 1969, when it was filled in. New roads were built and the site eventually redeveloped for retail.S/EA/10/hub

Papers from the office of Bernard Morris, former Swansea City Estate Agent, c. 1880-1980. Bernard H. Morris (1932-2012) worked in the Estates Department of Swansea City Council, becoming City Estate Agent later in his career. He was a keen and knowledgeable local historian and long-term member of the Gower Society. These records consist of a miscellany of reports and other items collected by him in the course of his work and transferred to Swansea City Archives in 1989.S/EA/150/hub
