Richmond County School for Boys

Scope and Content

Administrative records of Richmond County School for Boys

Administrative / Biographical History

Richmond County School for Boys opened in July 1896 as a fee-paying school for boys in Kew Road, Richmond. The first headmaster was Mr AE Buckhurst, followed by Mr TW Beasley between 1912 and 1939. In 1939, the school closed, and the remaining boys were transferred to the site of East Sheen County School for Boys, in Hertford Avenue, Sheen. The school was re-named Richmond County and East Sheen School for Boys.

Arrangement

Richmond County School for Boys amalgamated with East Sheen County School for Boys in 1939. All the administrative functions of Richmond County School for Boys terminated at this date, and the Kew Road site was vacated, so the records for this school have been catalogued separately from those of the subsequent schools.

The Richmond County School for Boys collection is arranged into four series:

  • S6/1 - Headmaster's Registers, 1896-1932
  • S6/2 - Staff registers, 1896-1939
  • S6/3 - Admissions Registers, 1902-1939
  • S6/4 - Board of Educations Admissions Sheets, 1929-1939
