These were the first workshops to be organised by Louise Mulvey, who became director at the end of 1995. The plays workshopped in the summer of 1996 were as follows:The Man Who Would be Bing, by Jim Burke; Imperial Measurementsor Haiti, by Mike Mallet; Hard Shoulder, by John Doona and Down the Mountain, by Robert King. The summer workshops were held at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton. In November 1996 North West Playwrights also ran a 'masterclass' at the Duke's Playhouse, Lancaster, items NWP 3/1/3/12-18 deal with this event.
