In 1993 the Arts Council proposed an 18% cut in funding for playwrights organizations, which threatened to cut the £10000 funding the Arts Council gave to North West Playwrights completely. The file contains correspondence relating to this, and copies of the letters of protest at the cut, and support for the work of North West Playwrights, that were sent to the Arts Council's Theatre Writing Committee. The campaign was successful, the Drama Panel of the Arts Council managed to find money elsewhere in their budget to secure the funding for a further year.
