Scope and Content

Briefing and administrative notes, press cuttings, manifestos, and reports relating to the Commonwealth Observer group for the 2002 Pakistan general election. These were donated by Richard Bourne, who was observing the election in the tehsil of Faisalabad. Includes manifesto and constitution of the Pakistan Muslim League, constitution of Jama'at-e-Islami Pakistan, manifesto suggestions for women's empowerment. Subjects include women's participation in local elections 2000-1, allegations by Pakistan Peoples Party of poll irregularities.

Administrative / Biographical History

Richard Bourne was part of the Commonwealth Observer group for the 2002 Pakistan general election. His books have included biographies of Shridath Ramphal and President Lula of Brazil.
