Scope and Content

Trustee correspondence and papers (occasionally also minutes of SPAID Trustee meetings), in reverse chronological order.
Includes:
- timeline early SPAID history, 1985
- occasional reports to trustees
- compilation of compensation recovered for SPAID clients through the services of Field Fisher Waterhouse, solicitors, by the end of 1984. This amounted to over £1.5m
- copy of 'Post Office and Civil Service Sanatorium Society 80th Annual Report and Statement of Accounts for the year ended 31 December 1986', with an obituary for Lord Plant of Benenden, SPAID trustee; Plant had died suddenly while on holiday in France in August 1986

Arrangement

Arranged in reverse chronological order with the exception of folders 4, 5, and 6 which were added as part of a later accession.

Access Information

Folder 6 is restricted. The rest is open.

Acquisition Information

Folders 4, 5, and 6 came from a later accession to the OEDA papers: ACC 1628.

Custodial History

From a lever arch file inscribed 'Trustees from 1978. 1984-1988 | And some important papers e.g. authority to lease Cuffley office'. Further includes some materials from a paper storage bag inscribed 'Sundry SPAID papers | Correspondence 78-87 | SPAID notepaper | POCCS Annual Report 31.12.86 [...] SPAID news releases'. Folders 4-5 are from a lever arch file inscribed 'Trustees | Jan 1989', and folder 6, all from a later accession ACC 1628.
