Scope and Content

Incomplete letter from Tiverton, Devon, to S W. Yesterday morning he parted from his neice and her husband [Mr and Mrs Earle]. They insisted on sending a servant to accompany him as far as North Moulton, which is fifteen miles from Barnstaple. The afternoon however was Charles's own time.

At night he preached 'the end of our Lord's coming THAT WE MIGHT HAVE LIFE'. He also spent an hour in prayer, singing and discussion with his host's family.

This morning he rose at four, preached at five, and set out after breakfast for this place, which is about twenty miles from North Moulton.

[The rest of the letter is damaged]
