Letter

Scope and Content

From London to John Bennet at Chinley End, near Chapel-en-le-frith, Derbyshire. Bennet's excuse for not writing was poor, for as long as he can say that he and Grace are enjoying good health, he will always have something worth writing about.

Charles is delighted with the success enjoyed by Mr W [George Whitefield]. Bennet should not fear Whitefield's success for even if his followers are reluctant to compromise with the Methodists, 'we must love & bear with them if they cannot with us'.

He has been confined to Bristol and London by J W's long and dangerous stay in Ireland. It may yet be a month before John returns, and then Charles may begin his tour of the north.

They should pray that God may send more labourers.

Sarah sends her love and her prayers that Grace may have a safe delivery.
