Administrative / Biographical History

Founded as Courtaulds' Weekly Staff Association in 1943, the Courtaulds' Group One Staff Association transferred engagements to the Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs in 1977.

Archivist's Note

An interim list of the archive is available in paper format in the Centre's searchroom. The Centre also holds the records of the Courtaulds' Senior Staff Association (MSS.31) and the Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs (MSS.79/AS) . An authority file exists for the Courtaulds' Group One Staff Association (GB 152 AAR1357).

Custodial History

The records were transferred to the Modern Records Centre through the good offices of Mr E.L.J. Thorne of Lanchester Polytechnic, formerly Industrial Relations Adviser to the Association.
