Proposal Books contain the names of those proposed for election to membership of the Club at the monthly Ballot Committee meetings. The books record the full name, business or profession, and residential and business addresses of the proposed new member with the signatures of the proposer and seconder. The books were left open for inspection and for members to record their support of candidates by writing their signatures alongside each proposal. The books provide valuable evidence of the social composition of the Reform Club.
