Administrative / Biographical History

The Buist Spinning Co Ltd, which was incorporated in 1900, took over the business of Laing Bros & Co, jute spinners and power loom linen manufacturers of Stobswell Works, established since the mid 19th century. The Buist Spinning Co Ltd became a subsidiary company of Tay Textiles in 1978 and went into voluntary liquidation in 1979.
