Administrative / Biographical History
The Glasgow Northern Hospitals Board of Management/District was created in 1948 and was responsible for Stobhill, Ruchill, Western District, Baird Street and Robroyston Hospitals, Glasgow Convalescent Home and sundry clinics. It lost Baird Street to the Board of Management for the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Associated Hospitals in 1962, the Western District to the Board of Management for Yorkhill and Associated Hospitals in 1965 and the Convalescent Home to Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth Board of Management in 1972. In 1974 the Board of Management was replaced by the new Greater Glasgow Health Board Northern District. The District was responsible for the Woodside Health Centre and a wide range of clinics as well as Birdston, Broomhill, Foresthall, Lennox Castle, Lenzie, Robroyston, Ruchill, Stobhill, Stoneyetts, Waverley Park and Woodilee hospitals.
