Correspondence between Wilkinson and Dr F.H.K. Green of the Medical Research Council regarding the clinical trials of Pentnucleotide commenced following successful application to the Therapeutic Trials Committee by Messrs. Menley & James Ltd. on behalf of Smith, Kline & French Laboratories, the manufacturers of the drug. Wilkinson began to test the drug in cases of agranulocytosis and correspondence refers to lack of results owing to a lack of suitable patients, requests for further supplies, reports of results from elsewhere, 'negative phase' of treatment, and a full report of one patient with agranulocytic angina treated with Pentnucleotide. The file also includes an outline of the purpose and function of the Therapeutic Trials Committee, outline of the application to the Committee for the testing of Pentnucleotide, and an information leaflet published by Smith, Kline & French Laboratories, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
