Chem. VI/Organic Chemistry Lecture Notes Vol.1

Scope and Content

The front cover is labelled 'Chem. VI' and the title given on the first page is 'Organic Chemistry Vol. 1'. A note in the front of the volume indicates that it was begun in October 1915 but there are no further attempts to either date or number individual lectures. These notes would have formed part of Wilkinson's studies for his B.Sc. in chemistry.

In brief the lectures deal with the separation of mixtures, purification, vacuum distillation, finding melting points, boiling points, analysis of organic substances, bases of formulae, graphic formulae, distillation of wood, properties of methyl alcohol, hydrolysis, methyl halides, acetyl groups, esters, formic acid, and ethyl alcohol.
