1929-30 Annual Report

Scope and Content

Typescript copies of the director's annual report, report on research work done in the cardiographic laboratory, report for the year ending 31 December 1929, and minutes of the annual meeting of the committee of control of the clinical investigations and research laboratory held on 13 October 1930.

The annual report names the research workers as Miss F. V. Stephen, Dr William Brockbank, Dr H. E. Martin, Dr L. Klein, and Miss Egan in addition to Wilkinson himself but unlike previous reports does not give full details of each individual's work. Instead an overview of a few investigations undertaken that year by Wilkinson is given, which relate to pernicious anaemia, colitis and chronic gastro-intestinal disturbances, dermatoses, and Raynaud's disease.

The report on the cardiographic laboratory highlights the work of Bramwell and Ellis into cotton operatives with cardio-respiratory symptoms, Bramwell, Ellis and Braithwaite's work on the graphic registration of heart sounds and murmurs, Bramwell's investigations into coronary thrombosis, and Dr Norah Regan's investigations into the effect of pregnancy and labour in patients suffering from heart disease.
