Wilkinson's time in Pakistan begins with his arrival in Karachi and then he gives a very brief overview of its history and population compared to descriptions he gives in other parts of the tour. Immediately he takes a flight to East Pakistan [Bangladesh] and visits Dacca [Dhaka] where he meets first with Professor A.K.S. Ahmed (see JFW/6/22 for later correspondence with Ahmed) and Mr Ball of the British Council. Here he gives lectures on leukaemias at the University and Dacca Medical Hospital and receives a reception attended by many medical dignitaries. There is a thorough description of Dacca University Medical College Hospital where he gave a clinical teaching ward round.
He then returns to West Pakistan and visits Lahore where he meets with some of the local senior medical staff and discusses the state of affairs of medical provision and medical education. He also visits Fatima Jinnah Women's Medical College, Gunga Ram Hospital, and King Edward Medical College. Finally he gives another lecture on leukaemias and visits specific patients on the wards.
